Spinning Hopes
Spreading cheer amongst the students of Ek Tara Learning Centre, Kolkata, AlphaTheta India along with Ek Tara organized a highly empowering workshop on the art of DJing. Spearheaded by AlphaTheta India’s influencer DJ Bahaar, the workshop emphasized the essence of being a DJ to the students learning DJing at the center.
The workshop also underlined the AnyBodyCanDJ message for the students, a majority of whom are girls. DJ Bahaar elucidated her journey in what is primarily thought of as a ‘man’s world’ and emphasized that being a female DJ isn’t as hard as it is often perceived. She also explained the basic self-principles critical for success in the DJing world: self-discipline, organizational skills, and resilience. These are skillsets critical for every human being to achieve success.
DJ Bahaar showcased numerous tips and tricks for refining the art of DJing. Keeping things simple and in tune with the gear the students were learning and practicing on, Ms. Bahaar emphasized these tips using the XDJ RX3. Bahaar eloquently demonstrated beat matching, one of the most basic but often overlooked skills, which the students then easily imbibed. Over 35 girls from the learning center participated in this workshop and immersed themselves into this unique outreach program. In that electrifying atmosphere, it was heartwarming to witness the children open up to DJ Bahaar and get hands on with the gear. Each one immersed themselves in the world of music; their palpable excitement was evident as the workshop stretched well beyond its scheduled duration.
