The
requirement
The story of the Exposition of St. Francis Xavier was to be told through a breathtaking 3D projection light and sound show at the Se Cathedral in Goa. The event had to accommodate around 3000 attendees to learn the historical background through engaging storytelling. The goal was to create an immersive audio experience that complemented the grandeur of the visuals while maintaining unobstructed views for the 3D projection mapping in the open-air venue measuring 250ft x 250ft.
The
challenge
The Se Cathedral’s 3D projection light and sound show presented several challenges. The audio system needed to deliver exceptional sound quality while being placed strategically, ensuring it didn’t interfere with the projection and didn't cut any sightlines. The solution required array systems that could be flown high and spaced approximately 200 feet apart to preserve clear sightlines for the visuals while still providing sound coverage for the entire audience.
The
Solution
To meet these challenges, Dave Drego from Electrocraft and his team turned to CODA Audio. CODA’s compact yet powerful systems offered the precision, flexibility, and sound excellence required to balance the audio and visual needs of this large-scale event. By optimizing the placement of the arrays, CODA Audio ensured every note and word resonated clearly, elevating the experience to a whole new level. Its compact size and overall small footprint allowed an unobstructed view of the center stage to the audience.To achieve seamless sound coverage, 20 AiRAY boxes were flown in a configuration of 10 per side, providing exceptional sound clarity and projection. The 8 SCPF subwoofers ensured deep, impactful bass, filling the venue with low-frequency energy. During the Shillong Chamber Choir’s performance, 8 SCVF subwoofers were added for additional low-frequency impact, while 8 CiRAY boxes were deployed as front fills to provide consistent coverage for those seated in the front rows.
The
IMPACT
Given the scale and demands of the event, one might assume a larger number of speakers would be necessary. However, CODA Audio’s compact and efficient technology made it possible to deliver outstanding sound with a smaller footprint. The audience was fully immersed in the 3D projection light and sound show, and the Shillong Chamber Choir’s performance captivated all in attendance. The visiting engineers were equally impressed with CODA Audio's performance, noting its exceptional sound quality and flexibility in meeting the complex demands of the event. According to Dave Drego from Electrocraft, "The compactness and small footprint of the CODA speakers reduced a lot of human effort and transportation hassle.
