The
requirement

Modern-day public facility centres serve beyond their function. They are becoming centres of excellence with added layers of value creation. AIIMS Guwahati is one such premier institution offering state-of-the-art amenities. It underwent a recent upgrade with the addition of the latest AV technology. The objective was to have effective audio solutions from world-class brands to deliver better intelligible sound and performance. To bring the simulation room to fruition, the teams of Alphatec, along with Power Technologies, Guwahati, designed a befitting AV solution with premier brands.

The
challenge

In an environment where multiple students had to stand and understand the complex procedures, an audio solution that did not act as a visual hindrance had to be designed. With the density of students in the room, wide coverage for picking up audio and clear performance was a default requirement. Added to that was the fact of the failure of the initial talk-back system. These were mere tricky requirements than the ones that posed serious challenges to design a befitting solution.

The
Solution

With the inclusion of tailored audio solutions, including world-class brands served the objective of speech intelligibility and sound performance. The microphones were from the Japanese major Audio Technica’s hanging microphone S954 and PRO 49QL coupled with its digital mixer ATDM0604a. The lightweight amplifier EPQ304 from Behringer was deployed.

The
IMPACT

The team was successful in its endeavour to attain self-sufficiency in graduate and postgraduate medical education using updated AV technology for its simulation room. The institute was happy to create value for its in-house trainees on critical medical care. It gave the learners a desired environment for practical learning exposure. The stakeholders were elated with the performance of the audio solution and the timely support from Alphatec.
